Every year, the Internation Day of Women and Girls in Science is celebrated the world over every year on February 11. The aim of the celebration, just like every other International Days, is to create awareness of the need for more women participation in STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
The UN General Assembly passed a resolution named A/RES/70/212 on 22 December 2015, bringing this into being. Later, UN Women in collaboration with the civil society partners, UNESCO, and other institutions gave acceptance for the celebration to come into effect.
This year’s celebration is the 7the edition of the celebration and has its theme focused on “Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion: Water Unites Us”.
The Double Edged Impact Network as part of its commitment to its members and to the public will mark this year’s celebration by showcasing the amazing contributions its female members are making to the development of science. In addition, the organisation will host a special webinar to help introduce more women to tech and the opportunities that exist in the tech space.
This webinar themed, “You Too Can: How To Access Opportunities In Tech” shall hold on Friday, 11th February, 2022 at 07:30pm (WAT). The guest speaker of this webinar is Toyin Yayu.
